The Netivot Shalom Film Series: New Film this Sunday!

The Netivot Shalom Film Series: New Film this Sunday!
One boy, two faiths. Eleven year-old Daud is the son of a Muslim imam in Brooklyn. Daud inadvertently befriends a group of Jewish boys who mistake him for being Jewish and genuine bonds are formed.

David (2011)
directed by Joel Fendelman
Unable to resist the joy of a camaraderie that he has never felt before, David, as he is known to the Jewish boys, gets drawn into a complicated situation that is based upon both the best of intentions, and youthful deceit. He becomes conflicted, and the longer he plays out his double life, the more he risks driving a wedge between himself and members of his family.

This prize-winning film explores boundaries of faith and trust, New York's multi-cultural environment as a backdrop.

An episode of Arab Labor, the excellent and hilarious Israeli television series, will be show as well.

Both David  and Arab Labor explore self-identification, as did the first film of the series, Torn.

Please come and enjoy the films!
