Real Work [a #poem] #leadership #friendship

Real Work
© Rabbi Menachem Creditor

The work of a leader's incredibly fraught,
as direction is easy to bend.
And the slightest mistake can affect many things –
especially those one didn't intend.

There are those who will hear what they've decided was clear
even before the leader's words have emerged.
And the toxic encounter a leader feels ‘round her,
takes days and real work just to purge.

So I offer this rhyme, to myself and to you,
as leaders on paths without ends.
Real work, it turns out, is what leading's about
which makes leaders so grateful for friends.
