Announcing: the Adoption Museum Project!

Inaugural events, May 11th:

Our Place at the Table: Honoring Birthmother Stories
This public exhibit invites all people to honor and learn about birthmothers: mothers who have placed or lost a child to adoption. A collection of over 15 personal objects contributed by birthmothers tells their diverse stories. Guests may add their honoring messages and intentions. Whether you have a personal connection to adoption or not, join us. This is a rare opportunity to learn about an experience that remains hidden in our society. This is a free event. Children are welcome. Following the exhibit, hear a solo performance and memoir reading by birthmothers at Alley Cat Books (facebook.com/events/493767847345256/). These events are a collaboration between the Adoption Museum Project, the On Your Feet Foundation and many courageous birthmothers. More info at facebook.com/events/115366831996972.

Birthmothers Speak: Performance & Memoir Reading:
Two birthmothers tell their stories in their own words and voices. Deanna Ross's solo performance, "Birthmother", weaves her own highly personal memoir with moving and surprising facts about adoption in the United States. Distinguished author Kelle Groom reads from her memoir, "I Wore the Ocean in the Shape of Girl". This extraordinary book is a winner of many awards including the New York Times Book Review Editor's Choice selection. Q&A will follow each presentation. Kelle Groom will sign books. This is a free event. Content is for adult audiences. Prior to this event, from 1-4, attend a public exhibit about birthmothers: facebook.com/events/115366831996972/ This is a collaboration between the Adoption Museum Project, the On Your Feet Foundation and many courageous birthmothers.
